Guinness World Record Title Holder

Over two years in the making, but we made ALON look good as they received the Guinness World Record Title for Largest Gift Card. Having much experience working with large format graphics and retail signage, this was right up our alley.

The Beginning

Back in 2015 we were privileged to be part of a creative summit that ALON held to discuss upcoming ideas on how to promote their new gift card program. Having designed and created the family of myALON cards that include credit, debit, pre-pay and now the new gift card which we needed to promote. We presented initial concepts to show visual options of style and communication. From putting the consumer in the sit skydiving to see the size of the gift card in various “World” locations. From this presentation and follow-up conversations, details, legal requirements, and more came into play directing us how to build a consumer contest into this enormous feat.

Proving to Guinness

To show our dedication to this record, we had to provide proof of the ability to make this large gift card. The production of the card was filmed for Guinness requirements, but we capitalized on this opportunity and edited and animated an internal video to excite the company for the upcoming campaign.

Branding a Campaign

The program ran summer of 2017 promoting a lucky winner could have their name attached with a World Record and win $10,000 in free gas. So our charge was to take the excitement, fun and surreal feeling of this campaign, and visually communicate this message.

We first defined the logo mark for the campaign so consumers could quickly identify it in store, online, on TV, or freeway billboards. Once approved we proceeded creating all the necessary assets for the various medias.



The Event

The winner was selected and the event was held to confirm the size of the card, and the award to the lucky consumer. Guinness adjudicator verified the authenticity of the card. The dimensions, material specifications and if it had money on the account. No, there is not a card swiper big enough, so we had to run the identification number. It was a privilege to be apart of this great campaign, and appreciate the great teams we at Nitch had to work with to help ALON achieve this awesome title! Now onto the next campaign. Bigger and better, right?!
